About the Eastern Ontario Pleasure Driving Society
WHERE
Although regional in name because of
the locale of origin, the membership includes people from Ontario,
Quebec, and the United States
WHAT
The Eastern Ontario Pleasure Driving
society was first established in 1975 to promote the association
of individuals with an interest in vintage carriages, other animal
drawn vehicles or pleasure driving. The Society was incorporated
in 1977. It is a Chapter of The Carriage Association of America
Today: The Eastern Ontario Pleasure Driving Society continues as a non-profit organization promoting the growing sport of carriage driving to drivers in Ontario and beyond
WHO
Anyone may participate who is interested in pleasure driving whether:
- using light or heavy horses or other harnessed animals
- using vintage or modern appropriate vehicles
- interested in collecting, restoring vehicles, or literature on carriages
- involved in pursuits related to these interests.
The Society emphasizes family involvement in meetings and driving activities.
HOW
The Society is managed by a Board of Directors representative of the various areas of Eastern Ontario. Society elections take place at the Annual General Meeting held in late February or early March each year.
